A Dream Come True
Any time Field of Dreams rescues or adopts out a horse, we rent a horse trailer from a local barn to pick up or deliver the rescue. In July, Colleen, a local resident, made a dream come true by donating her horse trailer to us.  The two-horse, bumper pull trailer is in fabulous condition.  In addition to being able to trailer horses, we will now be able to work with rescues that don't like to get on and off trailers.  We are so excited about our new trailer and truly grateful to Colleen for this incredible donation to Field of Dreams!

Yesterday, our new trailer was very useful as we picked up a hay donation for our rescues.
Thank you to our supporters, Mike and Abigail for your generous donation of hay and continuing to think of our organization!
Equus Film Festival
Field of Dreams thanks all who came out to our "summer movie night" event! Despite the storms, we were treated to a fun evening of equine films (indoors) hosted by Lisa Diersen, founder of the Equus Film Festival. We are extremely appreciative of this kind gesture and for the proceeds which directly benefit our rescues. Thank you so much, Lisa, for a wonderful evening!

A Second 'Chance'
"I just wanted to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to adopt Chance. He is doing very well and is gaining more confidence everyday. Chance will greet me at the gate when he sees me, enjoys it when I brush and pet his face (he still won't let anyone else touch his face), and sets his head for putting on his halter; some mornings I even get a nicker. We are still working on fly spray and baths (just takes some extra carrots). Chance has made friends at the barn and enjoys rolling around in the arena before his night time brushing. We are brushing up on his lunging and he is doing very well (smart boy). Chance receives compliments daily from other people in the barn about how handsome he is and how gorgeous his coat and large head are (seems his head is getting even bigger). Haha! When my nieces came to see him, he took a nap while they learned how to groom him. Chance and I are quite the team and couldn't be happier together. Thank you for all you do and giving horses like him a second... Chance."

Best Wishes to our Junior Board Director
Thank you, Emma, for your years of service to Field of Dreams as a barn volunteer, as well as our junior board director for the 2016-17 year.

We wish you all the best as you begin your college career this fall at Truman State University!

Congratulations and thank you for your continued dedication to our cause!
Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Coordinator: We are currently in need of a new volunteer coordinator to oversee our barn volunteer program. Volunteer coordination can be completed from your own home and computer, but DOES require an understanding of the volunteer program, strong organizational skills and a passion for what we do. The coordinator will communicate with new applicants, arrange orientations, and assist with scheduling for current volunteers. Contact us for more information.

Barn Volunteer: Want to learn more about horses and their care? Join us for our next group orientation scheduled on 9/17/2017 at 3:00 pm. Learn more about our amazing volunteer program, tour the barn, and meet our rescues. Complete an application HERE to begin your registration. We look forward to seeing you there!

Barn Shift "In-Charge" Volunteer: Do you have a good working knowledge of horses, enjoy the tranquility of a barn and like volunteering?  If so, Field of Dreams has opportunities which might appeal to you.  We are looking for individuals to be in-charge and help manage some of our morning and evening shifts.  Morning shifts are generally handled by one person and last about one hour, usually from 8:00 - 9:00 (you can go earlier if that fits your schedule - horses just need to be ready for turnout by 8:45 am).  Individuals wishing to be evening in-charges must be 18 years of age, have good communication skills and a desire to work with others.  Evening shifts are from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. For further information, contact Jody at 630-664-4270 or at [email protected]

Event Committee Volunteer: Event committee volunteering is an excellent way to serve the organization, while networking with others in the community. This volunteer position provides opportunities to get involved during specific events/time periods throughout the year. Contact us to learn more.
Diamante, Today

Tasha of Escapar Farms adopted Diamante from Field of Dreams in September of 2015.  Halsey E. has been leasing Diamante from Tasha, rides her 4-5 times per week and competes with her in numerous shows.  This year, Halsey and Diamante moved up from the 2'3" division to the 2'6" division but have jumped as high as 3' in lessons.  They ended up placing 9th out of 33 riders in their first derby course at a recent Tower Hill show.  According to Halsey, Diamante enjoys jumping the more complex courses with a lot of turns rather than the more basic hunter courses.  Obviously, Halsey and Diamante make a fabulous team!
Please enjoy the following video clips of Diamante doing what she loves best!
Del Real Fire Donations
Many thanks to those who made contributions to care for the 12 surviving horses of the July 5 Plainfield barn fire.  Donations of senior grain, water buckets, grooming supplies and fly spray were very much appreciated by the families of the horses who survived this terrible tragedy.
Volunteer Summer Party

As a thank you for their dedication and giving of their time, our volunteers were treated to a summer Ice Cream Social last month. We had so many great raffle prizes available, and were delighted to see everyone able to win! Thanks to all of you who came out for a fun evening a the barn.
You make what we do possible! Thank You!
