Checking in with TJ- by Kathy Rerko-Smith

My equine visit this month was with TJ and his owner. TJ is a chestnut thoroughbred that came to Field of Dreams off the racetrack.
TJ found his forever home when his future owner came in to Field of Dreams and met him, she immediately fell in love. His playful personality endeared him to everyone who met him.
Being a favorite horse at the barn by many of the kids he has the nickname of the "dancing horse" because he bobs his head up and down to get attention.
TJ's owner visits him daily at the barn. She doesn't ride him very often at the moment as she has a toddler that keeps her very busy but makes sure he is ridden several times a week by one of the girls at the barn.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our #GivingTuesday campaign! $2,400 was raised in ONE day as a result of the generous donations made by our supporters and sponsors. We are truly grateful for all your support!
For those still interested in making a contribution, our campaign remains open! Click here to make a donation as we continue to "stack bales" toward our goal!

Troop 13 Lends A Hand
On Saturday, December 3, a total of 22 members (scouts and dads) from Boy Scout Troop 13 in St. Charles worked on a service project for FOD. Field of Dreams supporters, Mike and Abigail of Maple Park, donated 150 bales of hay to help feed our horses and we needed to move the hay over to our location. Tasha of Escapar Farms, lent us her utility trailer and with the use of many of the scouts' pickup trucks, the hay was moved to FOD in 1 hour and 20 minutes! Everyone worked so hard and made easy work of this big project. We are extremely grateful to Troop 13 for volunteering to help us and to Mike and Abigail for their generosity. We hope the troop enjoyed the hot chocolate, cider, and donuts as much as our horses are enjoying their hay.

Thank  You for a Wonderful 2016!
As 2016 draws to a close, Field of Dreams Horse Rescue and Adoption would like to thank you for all of your support.
Your generosity has made it possible for our organization to rescue 55 horses to date. We found forever homes for 4 of our rescues this year which enabled us to bring more horses into the Field of Dreams family.  Other highlights this year included a very special 50th birthday celebration with our beloved donkey Orlando, receiving a grant award for electric fencing to improve the safety of our horses and, late this fall, holding our first 'Run 4 the Rescues' 5K event.
It's not too late to make a tax deductible donation for 2016. Contributions can be made by visiting our website or by check mailed to: P.O. Box 61, St. Charles, IL 60174.

On behalf of all of us at Field of Dreams, best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year!

Punch Card Winner:
Congratulations to December's punch card winner, Grace R! Grace will receive a gift card to Panera Bread. Thank you for all you do for our horses!

 Winter Weather Reminders:
With the cold temperatures here, please remember to DRESS WARM with hats, gloves, and warm boots. The barn is unheated, and while the horses are still comfortable, volunteers need extra warmth! There are hand warmers available in the volunteer stall also!
During winter weather advisories, you may be contacted via text message for shift cancellations. If you need us to contact you other than by text, or are ever unsure of the status of your scheduled shift, please contact Jill by email or 630-664-4818.
