Checking in with Tyson

Recently, FOD's long-time supporter, volunteer and adopter, Kathy Rerko-Smith, had the pleasure of visiting Tyson (now known as Moose) at his new home. It was obvious that he remembered her as he came right up to the fence to greet her. Kathy will now periodically check in with our former rescues in their new homes, providing us with exciting news, photos and updates. We are grateful to Kathy for helping FOD in this important role.

Moose's owner was quite anxious to show how she rides him bareback and works with him in the round pen. He is obviously very happy with his new surroundings including getting to know a mare who has taken quite a liking to him.  She has broken into his paddock twice to get closer to him.

Moose is also in training to be a part of the Kane County Mounted Rangers. The Rangers patrol the forest preserves on horseback keeping them safe for the public and represent the Forest Preserve District in local parades and events. Moose's first event was patrolling the parking lot at LeRoy Oakes during a track meet. We were told he did very well. Maybe some day we will see him in one of our many local parades!

We are so happy to see that Moose is enjoying life in his new forever home.

Welcome to the Board of Directors

We are excited to announce that Emma Piestch has joined the Field of Dreams Board of Directors as our junior board member.  Emma is currently a senior at Geneva High School and has been volunteering with Field of Dreams for a little over a year.  Emma loves horses, has been riding since she was really young and hopes to be a large, exotic animal veterinarian or equine vet.  She has been studying French since 8th grade and hopes to minor in it at college.  Emma loves interacting with the FOD horses and also hopes to have a horse of her own someday.  We are certain Emma will gain invaluable experience helping FOD accomplish our mission while the board will benefit greatly from her young adult perspective.  Welcome Emma!
